Why It’s important to give yourself the time and space for healing.
The invisible woulds we carry are the lens in which we see the world. Without taking the time to acknowledge, address and nurture these wounds, we perpetuate the cycle of inflicting our wounds onto others unintentionally through or reactions. When we come from a place where we have given our selves the nourishment and healing that we need and deserve, we are nonreactive and are we are unbothered by triggers.
When our physical bodies are injured, normally we give ourselves the time and space to rest and recover. How often do we give ourselves the time and space to recover from an emotional injury? In many cases, we are shoving our emotions aside, or deep within us and carrying on with the rest our day. These emotions then get buried deeps within us because there are more emotions that get pushed down, down and down further. What happens to these emotions if they have no where to go? They stay in our bodies and start to cause a state of disrepair. How often do we tell ourselves ‘get over it’ and move on? Or worse, have we heard this from someone else? These emotions can be anything, from big ones and little ones. For example: little disappointment here or there can turn into a sour view that nothing works out the way that you’d hoped.
Where are you holding emotions that need to be released? Give yourself a few minutes to see what comes up for you whether through journaling or meditation. Allow yourself to see, hear or feel what comes up for you. Just giving yourself the time to acknowledge, address and future yourself on a daily basis prevents you from carrying the weight of these wounds and keeps your vision clear.
